Updated October 11, 2026. HiCanadian is an independent bilingual information project about daily life in Canada.
Contact information
The form collects your name, email, topic, message and acknowledgement of this notice to handle the request. Messages are stored in the site WordPress database, restricted to administrators and excluded from public pages, search and the API. An HMAC of the connection IP is used for abuse prevention; the raw IP is not stored with the message. Server access logs may separately contain IP addresses and requested URLs.
Retention and requests
Messages older than 365 days are moved to recoverable trash during administrator maintenance. Administrators may review and permanently delete them; automatic WordPress trash deletion is blocked for contact messages. Protected backups can retain earlier copies until removed. You can request access, correction or deletion through the contact form; identity will be checked proportionately, without asking for sensitive documents here.
Calculator and sharing
Calculations run in your browser. Net income is neither persisted nor included in share links. A share link contains the six expenses, city and household profile in its URL; recipients, browser history and server logs can see those values when opened. Avoid sharing personal financial information.
Cookies and external services
Polylang uses a functional cookie for the chosen language. WordPress uses authentication cookies for administrators. No advertising analytics, newsletter subscription, payment service or AI request is active in this version. Photos and fonts are served locally. Links to official resources take you to websites with their own privacy practices. Optional future services need an updated notice and appropriate configuration before activation.
Operator and publication status
This is a public preview hosted on the project owner’s own VPS. Search indexing remains disabled, and operator identity, public address, privacy contact and hosting details are still to be provided before public launch. No fictitious company or address is used.
Arrival checklist and job offers
Checklist progress stays in page memory unless you explicitly save step identifiers in your browser’s local storage. You can stop saving or erase progress. Nothing is transmitted to HiCanadian. Job proposal messages use the private contact inbox and its retention rules; publication requires administrator review. Applications take place on external sites with their own privacy notices. HiCanadian does not collect résumés.
